The picturesque village of Nikiti sits around the bay from Metamorfosi and is considered to be one of the oldest villages in Halkidiki with a history that dates back almost 700 years.
Beside the dense vegetation, Nikiti’s beaches south of the village, also attract many holidaymakers during the summer. To name a few, the cove of Ai Yiannis that’s always a favourite, Akti Koviou and Lagomandra offer a shady spot among the pines that almost reach the shoreline. Akti Kalogria is also among the top choices for one’s sunbathing, swimming, and watersports.
Its traditional character of Nikiti is apparent in the stone houses that are ideally set among the fragrant pine trees creating a beautiful atmosphere for the visitors. The village is separated into two parts, one being the “old village” with the traditional stone houses and the other is the more developed in a tourist sense, where restaurants, cafes and shops can be found.
The church of the patron saint Agios Nikitas with its fine collection of icons and the ruins of the chapel of Virgin Mary that date back to the 16th century are some of the cultural sites of the area.
You can also rent a car and explore the surrounding beaches and villages such as the traditional village of Agios Nikolaos or Neos Marmaras for those who seek some excitement or nightlife.
Don’t leave Nikiti without tasting the excellent quality honey of Sithonia as well as the fresh fish and seafood of Kassandra Bay.
