The quiet village of Toroni is located on the southwest coast of Sithonia, about 130km from the city of Thessaloniki. It’s set between the cosmopolitan Neos Marmaras and the picturesque village of Porto Koufo.
Toroni’s main attraction lies in the 2km long beach of golden sand and its crystal clear waters of Toroneos Gulf. Tavernas and cafes can be found right on the beach. Toroni offers activities such as boat rides for swimming, snorkeling and trips around the Athos peninsula for a gorgeous view of the monasteries.
A visit to the ancient ruins of Castle of Lykithos is also worth, even just for the amazing view of the bay, especially at sunset. There are several archaeological sites in the area since the village of Toroni dates back to the 8th century BC, as well as some Byzantine churches.
Rent a car and explore the hills and coves of the southwest coast of Sithonia, and the nearby villages to find your own private paradise.
A few kilometers after Toroni, one can find the fishing village of Porto Koufo, the biggest and safest harbour in Northern Greece. It’s famous for its exquisitely fresh fish and its clear and deep waters. Fishing and snorkeling enthusiasts will surely be thrilled.
Visit Toroni for a relaxed or family vacation and witness the lovely combination of green forested countryside full of pine trees and olive groves, a classic Mediteranean picture one can find in Halkidiki.
